WHAT IS Journey Farthest Out?
Journey Farthest Out is an ecumenical Christian movement, an
offshoot of the Camps
Farthest Out movement begun in 1930 through the inspired vision
of Dr. Glenn Clark. JFO is a place for campers to learn how to
pray, to Love God, and to love their neighbor and themselves.
Glenn Clark was a
college English professor, a track coach and a Christian lay minister.
Glenn created CFO as a place for campers to experience living
in the kingdom of heaven here on earth: loving their neighbor
as themselves without regard to denomination or faith, while learning
more about how to pray effectively. It is a place "farthest
out" - far from home, newspaper, radio, TV and daily concerns.
As a track coach Glenn knew the only way to master a skill was
to train and practice. He envisioned CFO as a training ground
for "athletes of the spirit," a place where campers
would practice the spiritual principles they had learned.
Mt Lassen JFO is a multi generation camp. It is time set apart
for spiritual growth, as one opens his or her life to God on all
levels: physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. It
is a place where all people are accepted with the unconditional
love that Jesus taught.

JFO: A Balanced Program
The program
is key to a JFO day and balance is the key to the JFO program.
As we attune body, mind, and spirit, we take our step farther
out in faith. Each day’s program includes: Morning Meditation
— Begin each day with God in quiet reflection overlooking
the meadow. Singing — Praise God in joyous, spirited song.
Talks — Listen to our speakers as they share their personal
faith journeys. Rhythms — Use exercise and movement as a
means of experiencing wholeness. Creatives — Let God speak,
to you and through you, as you use the media of chalk, writing,
and clay. Prayer Groups — In small adult groups, experience
the power of prayer. Rest and Relaxation — Enjoy free time
in a gorgeous mountain setting.
